J. Jay Carroll

Jay Carroll has been practicing law since 1987.  He represents clients in civil litigation and administrative proceedings in state and federal trial courts.  He has extensive trial experience successfully representing individuals and corporations in cases involving agriculture, business, insurance and wrongful death issues.

Representative Cases:

• Fox v. Wilbur Ellis:  Successfully tried a case involving herbicide damage to an orchard obtaining a jury verdict of over $6,000,000.
• Hui v. Sunnyside School District: Successfully tried a wrongful death case in Yakima County resulting in a jury verdict of $3,800,000.
• Borton v. Novazone: Mr. Carroll and fellow Halverson Northwest attorney James Elliott successfully tried an apple damage case in federal court resulting in a jury verdict of $770,000.
• Monson Fruit Co. v. MSI Ins. Co: Successfully tried a case involving disputed insurance coverage on apples damaged in storage, obtaining a jury verdict of $866,000.
• St. Hilaire v. Food Services of America: Successfully brought a case to trial on behalf of multiple farmers against Food Services of America for violation of the Commission Merchant Act. The jury's verdict of over $400,000 was upheld on appeal.
